Glen Ellyn, IL – July 17th 2009 - Runners in the Western Suburbs have a new retail location to stock up on shoes, shorts and other gear for running to meet the needs of running enthusiasts. Run Today, a specialty running store, opened July 1st at 476 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, As well as offering many running products, Run Today will offer supplements, to promote total fitness and wellness.
The owner, Paul O’Neill, an active runner with a high level of business expertise, strives to create a service oriented experience in the store. Foot care and shoe fit are fundamental to creating a positive running experience for the novice to elite athlete runners.
Customers begin the process by having their foot scanned to determine shoe size, arch type and the distribution of weight throughout the foot. This newer technology takes the guesswork out of shoe fitting and facilitates selection of shoes. Once the foot profile of the runner is determined, customers are fitted with a variety of coordinating shoes to provide the best fit and comfort.
Once a shoe is selected, a video taped gait analysis is performed to ensure the proper adjustments have been made to complement the runner’s foot type. High speed video frame capture is used to illustrate a runner’s landing pattern as well as his/her heel to toe strike.
Beyond fitting shoes, Run Today’s charter is to keep a growing interest for running in the community by promoting clinics, store fun runs and other events throughout the community.
The store location of Run Today fosters an additional benefit for local runners.
